My first Post

One of the most influential papers I’ve read as an economics student is “The Macroeconomist as Scientist and Engineer” by Mankiw. Another one is “The Economist as Plumber” by Duflo. I guess economists can’t be just economists. That might explain “physics envy” too. So, I named this Substack publication Economist as Columnist because I think that’s who I am.

I’m going to write about economics, politics and anything related to that. I’ll mostly focus on Iran because that’s where my knowledge lies today but life changes so the topics.

One of my main goals for starting this is to show a more precise picture of Iran’s economy and society to non-Iranians. Another goal is for myself to go through all my questions about Iran and also improve my writing skills in my non-native language, and I’ll have very strict anti-LLM policy for myself in the writing stage (but not research). So, I’m sorry for any dictation or grammar mistake that occurs.
